Bożena Klimczak

Bożena Klimczak - Ballet director, and before that –   a soloist in the Wrocław Opera since 1985. She graduated from the Ludomir   Różycki State Ballet School in Bytom and the Fryderyk Chopin University of   Music in Warsaw (in ballet pedagogy). In 2003 she also graduated in theory of   dance (postgraduate programme) from the same University. In 2004 she earned   her PhD in artistic dance. Since 1996 she has lectured dance (contemporary,   character and classical dance) at the Faculty of Drama of the State Drama   School (PWST) in Wrocław, and since 2004 – as a senior lecturer. In 1994–96   she worked as a lecturer of stage movement at the Vocal Faculty of the Karol   Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. In this time (1997–98) she also worked   as a choreographer of Theatre No. 12 at the Centre for Art Impart in Wrocław;   this is the beginning of her career as a choreographer. Since 2005 she is the   deputy dean of the Faculty of Drama at the State Drama School (PWST) in   Wrocław. As a soloist, she was excellent both in classical and contemporary   ballet repertoire of the Wrocław Opera. She created many choreographies for   graduation performances at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music (Faculty of   Vocal) and the State Drama School (PWST) in Wrocław (Faculty of Drama and Puppetry). She directed one part of the ballet performances Bal życia based on Agnieszka Osiecka’s   works. In October 2006 she created a choreography for Białe Tangano   with music by Piazolla, and in February 2007 – The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky.   She collaborated with Theater der Stadt Goerlitz in Germany and Teatro Delle   Salline de Cagliari in Sardinia. She was honoured with a medal for the 200th   Anniversary of Polish Ballet, the Badge of Merit to Culture, Silver and   Bronze Iglica, a president's award of PWST in Wrocław; in 2005 she was   awarded the Silver Cross of Merit.
