CENTRUM W RUCHU (Centre in Motion) is an association of choreographers. For a long time now we have been gaining experiences, educating ourselves, and lately also developing our own artistic paths in Poland and abroad. CENTRUM W RUCHU is our reaction to the situation we face, the lack of institutions where we could develop our work, namely create shows and organise workshops. Despite our different interests and artistic languages, we have decided to get together to make a change. CENTRUM W RUCHU proposes a new model for artistic work organisation. It has been founded and managed by the artists themselves - it has its origin in a need and has been built from within. CENTRUM W RUCHU is supposed to motivate us to let ourselves more freedom. Not to be hostage of the grant awarding system. CENTRUM W RUCHU aims to stimulate the development of the community of dance and performance art professionals and to make these art forms more prominent in Warsaw’s cultural life.
CENTRUM W RUCHU gathers: Aleksandra Borys, Izabela Chlewińska, Maria Jędrzejewska, Korina Kordova, Agnieszka Kryst, Ramona Nagabczyńska, Weronika Pelczyńska, Magda Ptasznik, Maria Stokłosa, Iza Szostak, Karol Tymiński, Aleksandra Zdunek oraz Wojtek Ziemilski.
CENTRUM W RUCHU is a space for performing arts in Warsaw, set up on the initiative of the Burdąg Foundation. It is based in a former middle school building made available by the authorities of Warsaw’s Wawer district under the project Wawer’s Culture Sphere. The centre hosts rehearsals, workshops and previews of new shows. It has become the first successful attempt at establishing a permanent working space for independent choreographers in Warsaw.
CENTRUM W RUCHU offers free-of-charge workshops for the local community, a new dance laboratory for young artists and open rehearsals providing opportunities to see the artists’ work in progress and inviting a dialogue about dance.
