Sylwia Hanff – butoh dancer, choreographer, director, teacher of body work- and meditation techniques (including yoga kundalini and labyrinth meditation), mime dancer. She graduated in philosophy from the University in Warsaw.
She practiced contemporary and oriental dance at many international dance workshops in Poland, Germany and UK; she performed with Stefan Niedziałkowski Mime Studio. She danced in international dance projects, in choreographies by Atsushi Takenouchi, Kata Juhash and Fran Barbe, Kana Katsura. For four years she was a professional dancer in Warsaw Pantomime Theatre, for ten years she cooperated with the National Theatre (among others, she took part in performances by Jerzy Grzegorzewski) and the Polish National Opera. She cooperated with Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw; she has also cooperated with physical and experimental theatres.
She practiced butoh with the greatest masters: Ko Murobushi, DaisukeYashimoto, Carlotta Ikeda, Atsushi Takenouchi, Kana Katsura, Tadashi Endo, but from the very beginning she looked for an European body of butoh. Since 2002 leader of Limen Theatre. For many years she worked in Warsaw, then in Wolimierz. Now, she is back in Warsaw. She performed at various performing arts festivals in Poland, including: Street Art Festival and Cross Culture Festival in Warsaw as well as Maat Festival in Lublin.
