Karol Miękina is an actor and dancer. He studied at the Bytom-based Dance Theatre Faculty of the Ludwik Solski School of Drama (PWST) in Krakow. Among his teachers were Jacek Łumiński, Jan Peszek, Joseph Alter, Barbara Sier-Janik, Jerzy Stuhr, Sylwia Hefczyńska-Lewandowska, Janusz Skubaczkowski, Iwona Olszowska, Tomasz Rodowicz, Hilke Diemer, Luise Frank, or Georg Blashke.
Miękina participated in many drama and dance festivals such as the 6th International Theatre Festival DIALOG in Wrocław (2011), 32nd Warsaw Theatre Meetings (2012), 21st International Festival of Theater Schools SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER in Brno, the Czech Republic (2011), DanceInversion International Festival of Contemporary Dance in Moscow, Russia (2011), Bienal Internacional de Danca in Curitiriba, Brazil (2012), International Theatre Forum TEART in Minsk, Belarus (2012), Tanzfestival in Bielefeld, Germany (2012).
Starting off in the 2011/2012 season, he became a dancer with the Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań. He performs in: Minus 2 (choreography by Ohad Naharin); Walk@ karnawału z postem [The W@r between Carnival and Lent]; FootBall@..., XL. Polski Teatr Tańca wczoraj i dziś. Odcinek I: Don Juan i inni [XL. Polish Dance Theatre Now and Before. Episode 1: Don Juan and the others] (choreography by Ewa Wycichowska); and Desert (choreography by Paulina Wycichowska). He cooperates with the Julius Słowacki Theatre in Kraków, taking part in Ziemia Obiecana [Promised Land] (directed by Wojciech Kościelniak). He also performed in Hamlet (directed by Jan Peszek, Cezary Tomaszewski) taking the lead role; Everything slips away... (choreography by Joe Alter); Harnasie (choreography by Kaya Kołodziejczyk) playing the Groom; Wesele Figara [The Marriage of Figaro] (directed by Jan Peszek, Cezary Tomaszewski); and the reconstruction of Wk-70 (choreography by Jacek Łumiński).
February 2013 saw the premiere of his first choreography Public Space, which debuted at the 6th Festival of the Atelier of the Polish Dance Theatre in Poznań.
